Roanoke-Blacksburg Regional Airport (ROA) is the closest airport to Virginia Tech that offers commercial passenger service.  Connections can be made through several East Coast hubs including Atlanta (ATL), New York LaGuardia (LGA), Philadelphia (PHI), Charlotte (CLT), Washington Dulles (IAD), and Chicago O’Hare (ORD).

The Roanoke-Blacksburg Regional Airport (ROA) is about 40 miles northeast of Blacksburg. Ground transportation services from ROA to Blacksburg include:

• The SmartWay Bus which runs every hour from 6 am to 7 pm. The trip takes about one hour and costs $4 each way.
• Several taxi service providers, including B Early Cab Service which offers online quotes.
• Rental cars that are available from a number of agencies. The VT campus is a 40 minute drive from the airport.

Charlotte International Airport, in Charlotte, NC, has direct flights from and to Europe and is about 3 hrs from Blacksburg by car.

Dulles International Airport, outside of Washington DC, has direct flights from and to Europe, Asia, and South America, and is about 4 hrs from Blacksburg by car.

Blacksburg is located just off of Interstate-81, one of the major north/south highways for the eastern United States.
